Анотація. Стаття присвячена освітній реформі, проведеній імператором Юліаном. Проаналізовано його едикт від 17 червня 362 р., у якому він поклав контроль над освітою на курії. Заборона викладати вчителям-християнам стосувалася лише тих предметів, де релігійні погляди та переконання вчителів суперечили суті наук. Це, зокрема, риторика, література, граматика та філософія: усе те, що базувалося на вивченні міфології, творів давніх мислителів, поетів і письменників. Доведено, що освітню реформу імператора Юліана не варто трактувати як переслідування християн.
